Happy 3 Years!

Wahoo! Today is mine and Dave’s wedding anniversary. I cannot believe it has been 3 years already- time flies! Three years ago today I was getting ready with my beautiful bridesmaids (in the pouring rain) and I really did not feel nervous at all…I was so ready to marry my love. Happy 3 Years Boo!! I love you and the life we have started building together. Praying for an amazing year ahead.

Saying good night to our flower girl. This anniversary is bittersweet for us- always thought we would have our baby by now.

Love to our bridal party and amazing parents!! 🙂 You guys made our day the best!

Congrats to my husband!

I am so excited to tell everyone that my husband Dave got a new job! He will still be working with Marriott, but no more sales 🙂 He has been with the sales office since 2006 and while he has been on different teams (DC, Large Group etc) he has not left the office or has done anything else but sales. He is SO excited to start his new position and I am so happy for him. He still gets to work remote but will have to go to hotels every few weeks for meetings. I think this is so wonderful for him to get out and about and for us too- working together 24/7 can get hard sometimes and this will give us more to talk about and time to miss each other.

Of course, I made a new job themed basket for him. (One of my favorite things to do!)

Since he will be traveling more to hotels- advil, new ties and lots of goodies

Hump day!

Has it really been a almost a week since I last wrote? Yikes. Time is flying….2 weeks from today is my birthday, crazy.

This week has had its up and downs..Monday I was having a rough day, emotionally and physically. Then Tuesday comes along and we got amazing news!! (Not baby related, I wish..) It is just amazing how you can go from feeling the lowest of lows to the highest of highs. Monday everything upset me- babies, pregnant people…you name it. I ate lunch crying…got that vision? haha I felt anxious and just not myself at all, I hate days like that. My husband made me dinner and I was in bed by 7 with my kindle and ready to watch dancing with the stars. Everyone has their bad days.

Yesterday was much better and my hubby and I had a date night at a local Italian restaurant and celebrated. I felt human again and was able to forget about everything for awhile. On top of that, this weather has been amazing and I have been soaking up the sun any chance I can get. I love having the windows open at night and feeling the cool air but being so warm under the blankets!

I have become good friends with someone in a similar situation and she sent this over to me today and I wanted to share.

My new mantra!

Have a great week everyone.

Work+House+Dog+Infertility= STRESS!

Whew. Back in 2010 I was in 4 weddings- one was my own, we bought a house, I started a new job and we rescued Bradley. It was the best year of my life, but very stressful. After graduating college and living on my own in DC, I definitely was hit hard with working in the real world and dealing with everything on my own. I never really learned how to cope with stress until this past year with help from a therapist and my family. (Yes, I went to therapy- I am not in it anymore but it truly helps and I recommend it to ALL!)

What I do to chill out and relax:

-Light a candle and read. I am a huge bookworm (ask any of my friends) and I love nothing more than to sit with my kindle in bed or on our hammock outside and relax.

-Take a walk on the beach. Not everyone is so lucky to live 5 minutes from the beach but I have learned by just going down there and putting my feet in the sand- how amazing it truly is.

-Take a bath. Oh how I love my baths. I don’t take them to often- barely any in the summer but the winter is more relaxing to do so. I love getting fun bubble baths and just taking some time to myself. Try it!

-Go to the gym, do yoga or just deep breathing/stretching. When I feel anxious in the mornings, the best thing for me to do is going to the gym to get out of the house and burn some calories. My dad is a gym rat and has been since he was a kid and now I see why it helps him so much.

-Talk celebrity gossip, read magazines and watch reality tv. Why? It gets my mind off of my stressful situation and helps me forget for a bit. It is mindless fun and I love it! I have a DVR so I can fast forward through commercials and any ridiculous parts!

-Lay in the sun even if it is for 5 minutes. Yesterday I went outside in my sweats and just put my face in the sun for a few minutes and I felt like a different person!

-Read a page from my daily devotions book, pray or say 3 things that I was grateful for that current day. This has really helped me spiritually and mentally get through some tough days. I keep my devotions book right by my bed and I prefer to read it at night, unlike many who read it in the morning. Prayer- I have learned not to just complain and ask God for stuff- I thank him all the time now. Last week I won an argument with my insurance over a payment and I thanked Him right away for the strength and courage it took! Three things I am grateful or thankful for could be anything- from having your favorite meal (tacos lately) for dinner to taking a walk with Bradley and Dave. It is the little things in life that we are so lucky for. Sometimes Dave joins in too and says his 3 things of the day. Try it. 🙂

What do you do to relax?? (Keep it clean people 🙂 )

My favorite season!

Growing up I was always a summer girl. I live at the beach, grew up on the beach, worked on the boardwalk every summer and loved to lay out in the sun. Dont’ get me wrong, I still love everything about summer but after college, my new favorite season is definitely Fall! Here are the reasons why and not in any particular order….:)

1. My Birthday!! WAHOO. 10/9 I will be 30….yikes. My parents, sister and husband are throwing me a big party, so that is something to look forward to.

2. My wedding anniversary! 10/1/10 we said I do. It was truly one of the best days of my life!

Love!

Love!

3. Cooler weather= boots, sweaters, dark nails and the windows open…ah…

4. Football! I was a cheerleader in HS and it was my favorite season. Now, my husband is ub-sessed with the Redskins and this year I have my own fantasy football team. There is something so fun about getting together with friends on a Sunday to eat junk and cheer on your team. (Or yell and cry if you are a Redskins fan…)

5. Bath and Body Works Fall Candles are the BEST. Right now I have had Autumn Day burning since earlier this morning and it smells delicious in here. There is something so homey and warm about fall candles.

6. Apple & Pumpkin Picking. My parents started that tradition with my sister and I when we were kids and I have to go every year! I cannot wait until we have our own kids to bring along with us, it is so fun.

7. Mums. Don’t laugh but I just love mums! I buy 4 or 6 each year and decorate the front of my house–they are so pretty and colorful and last through Halloween. You know you love them too. 🙂

8. Baking! In the summer I feel guilty if I am not outside or at the beach on the weekends, so when Fall comes around I get excited to stay in and bake. I have gotten really good at apple pie (will have to try a gluten free version this year), chocolate chip cookies, homemade bread and I want to try and make a good chili this year.

So there you have it my friends, did I get you excited for Fall? What is your favorite season?!

Jersey Strong.

What a sad day at the Jersey Shore. Yesterday a fire ripped through Seaside Boardwalk and destroyed more than 50 businesses and many iconic shops. We just rebuilt the boardwalk after Sandy and now everything is gone….again. I know we will rebuild and we will come together as a community- we always do. I live about 25 minutes away from Seaside and I am prepared to donate and help in any way they need it. This brings me right back to Sandy and I wanted to share some pictures I took 1 day after the storm in Belmar. Belmar boardwalk has been rebuilt since then BUT there are still no buildings on the beach. We were able to buy our badges and snacks as well as go to the bathroom in trailers. Thank you so much to all of the first responders, fire fighters, and anyone else who came in to help. Jersey strong and proud!!
