Dealing with Crohn’s Disease

Crohn’s disease is a chronic inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract. Crohn’s most commonly affects the end of the small bowel (the ileum) and the beginning of the colon, but it may affect any part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, from the mouth to the anus.

Sexy Right? I plan my days around this disease and how I am feeling. Walk on the beach? That sounds fun…where are all the bathrooms? Are they open? What if I have to go to the bathroom on the way there? Is there a McDonalds or Dunkin on the way to stop and go? What if there isn’t? Will another restaurant let me use their restroom or turn me away? (that happens!!) Oh…make sure I have a snack and bottled water or gatorade (always have to stay hydrated and have my snacks!) Lunch out too? Shoot…where can we go that I can eat something healthy? A salad sounds good, but will my stomach hold a salad today or will it go right through me? Shopping after lunch? NO. We have to go home so when my lunch hits my stomach, we are near a bathroom. OH and make sure I have my pills! 8 pills a day plus vitamins and supplements.

Yup. That is pretty much my life. Sounds glamourous right? 🙂
